Kenneth Lieberthal photograph series. 1976-2005.

Personal and professional photographs taken of Lieberthal throughout his career. Includes photos of trips to China and east Asia, meetings with foreign officials, and events with U.S. leaders. Photos with political leaders include Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, Jiang Zemin (former president of China), and Kim Dae-Jung (former president of South Korea). Most of the photos were taken while Lieberthal was a member of the faculty at Swarthmore College from 1972 to 1983, and while he worked with the National Security Council from 1998 to 2000. Also included are photos of Lieberthal standing in Tiananmen Square in May/June 1989, in the days before the massacre.

Professor at the University of Michigan from 1983-2009. Lieberthal was a faculty member of the Political Science Department, Ross School of Business, and Center for Chinese Studies (CCS). He also served as Director of the Center for Chinese Studies (CCS) from 1986 to 1989. Founded by members of Baltimore, New York and Philadelphia Yearly Meetings of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), Swarthmore College was incorporated in 1864 under a charter from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
